Who is the PAX 4 for?

The PAX 4 (also known as the PAX Four) suits people who enjoy relaxed sessions and want richer vapour from the same draw style they already know. If you own a PAX 3 or PAX Plus, the PAX 4 builds on what you know with a more capable heater.

The simple one-button controls and pocket-friendly shape also make it a good fit if you prefer straightforward vaporizers with no apps or screens to manage. You get four heat settings and haptic feedback, nothing more.

People stepping up from the PAX Mini will notice a fuller session with more flavour depth, while keeping the same gentle, sipping draw style.

More vapour from a hybrid heater

The PAX 4 is the first vaporizer in the core PAX line to use hybrid heating. The oven heats your herbs directly through its walls (conduction) while hot air also passes through them (convection). The two methods working together can extract more from your herbs than either method alone.

The convection element helps heat herbs more evenly across the chamber, which tends to preserve flavour deeper into each session and extract more from each bowl than conduction alone.

Temperature and flavour

The PAX 4 has four presets from 190°C to 220°C, each shown by a different colour on the LED petal logo: purple at 190°C, green at 200°C, yellow at 210°C, and red at 220°C. A single tap of the button cycles through the modes.

Lower temperatures around 190°C and 200°C tend to bring out delicate, well-defined flavours with lighter vapour. Higher settings at 210°C and 220°C tend to produce denser vapour with a stronger, fuller character.

Compact and textured design

The PAX 4 is small and light at 125 g, measuring about 11 cm tall, 3.5 cm wide, and 2.5 cm deep. The flat mouthpiece sits flush with the top, so nothing catches on fabric when you slip it into a trouser pocket or bag.

The aluminium body has a textured pattern of oval grooves that provide a secure grip. The shell feels solid with no flex or loose parts.

Loading the chamber

The stainless steel oven holds up to 0.3 g of dried herbs and has a funnel shape for easy, tidy loading. The wide opening guides herbs into the chamber so less ends up around the edges.

The PAX 4 is designed for dry herbs only and does not support concentrates or the PAX concentrate insert. For the best results, grind your herbs to a medium-fine consistency, fill the oven to the top, and give a light tamp.

Battery and charging

The 2800 mAh battery provides up to 50 minutes of use per charge, or about four to five sessions.

Charging runs through USB-C and takes about 90 minutes from empty to full. Charge times vary with the cable and power source used. Shake to check your battery level at any time; each lit petal on the LED logo represents about 25% charge.

How to use the PAX 4

The PAX 4 uses a single button for all controls:

  1. Remove the oven lid, fill the chamber with ground herbs, and give a light tamp.
  2. Replace the lid, then press and hold the button to power on.
  3. Tap the button to select your preferred heat mode.
  4. Wait for the vape to vibrate, which signals it has reached temperature. The LED petal matching your chosen heat mode stays lit to confirm the setting.
  5. Take slow, steady draws.
  6. Press and hold the button again to power off.

The PAX 4 heats up in roughly 55 to 70 seconds from a cold start. Once at temperature, the oven holds heat well across draws.

Standby and auto shutoff

The PAX 4 enters standby after about 30 seconds of inactivity, shown by the LED petals turning blue as the oven starts to cool. After about 60 seconds, it shuts off completely.

Pick the PAX 4 up or take a draw to bring it back to temperature quickly from standby.

Cleaning and maintenance

The closed airpath needs regular brushing to stay clean. A quick brush after each session while the oven is still slightly warm prevents residue from building up, and only takes a moment with the included wire brush.

For a deeper clean every week or two, remove the oven screen and soak it in isopropyl alcohol, then rinse with water and let everything dry fully before reassembling. Wipe down the oven chamber and mouthpiece the same way. A quick wipe of the silicone mouthpieces with a damp cloth before use keeps them fresh.

PAX 4 vs PAX Mini 2

The PAX Mini 2 is smaller at 89 g, heats up in about 22 seconds, and lasts around 60 minutes per charge. Its compact shape and simple controls make it one of the most straightforward portable vaporizers in the PAX range.

The PAX 4's hybrid heater offers richer vapour by combining conduction and convection where the Mini 2 uses conduction alone. The stronger output can deliver a fuller, more flavourful session. For users who want more vapour from the same PAX session style, the PAX 4 is the step up.

PAX 4 vs PAX Flow

The PAX Flow is PAX's performance flagship, with an open airpath delivering 10 L/min of airflow, five heat modes up to 225°C, a 35-second heat-up, and a dedicated bong mode. The Flow is built for strong, wide-open draws.

The PAX 4 keeps the relaxed sipping style with tighter draw resistance, and suits people who prefer slow, unhurried sessions. The PAX 4 is also lighter at 125 g compared to the Flow's 135 g and lasts about 10 minutes longer per charge. For PAX fans who want hybrid heating without changing how they vape, the PAX 4 is the better match.

Recommended Accessories

MagicVaporizers offers a 25% discount on all accessories when you buy them with any vaporizer. These accessories pair well with the PAX 4:

PAX 3D Screen Set: Three stainless steel oven screens and a wire brush. The flared 3D shape improves airflow and makes the screens easy to lift out for cleaning. Rotating through fresh screens keeps each session consistent.

PAX 4 Silicone Cover: A custom-fit silicone sleeve that adds grip and helps protect the aluminium shell against drops and scratches.

PAX Puck Press: Press ground herbs into compact pucks that fit the PAX 4 oven for quick, tidy loading with consistent density.

PAX Prep Tongs: Stainless steel tongs (10 cm) with a silicone tip for packing herbs and a tool end for removing spent material from tight corners.

PAX Smell Proof Bag: A ripstop nylon carry bag with smell-proof lining and compartments for your PAX 4, grinder, and cleaning tools.

Warranty Information

The PAX 4 comes with a 2-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. You can extend it to 3 years by registering the vape at pax.com within 30 days of purchase.
