Who is the YLL Induction Heater 3.0 for?

The YLL 3.0 replaces the butane torch for battery-free vaporizers with metal caps: it heats a Tempest 2 or a DynaVap indoors, silently, with no flame and no technique to master. Reviewers who test induction heaters side by side call it a favourite, and the reason is control: you set the exact power and time, and the device reproduces those settings in every session.

A torch heats a cap from outside, one spot at a time, and no two heat-ups are identical. Induction generates the heat inside the metal itself, evenly and all around, which is why owners consistently describe a more even roast of the herb and more sessions from the same load.

Insert the Device and Heating Starts Automatically

There is no trigger to hold. The chamber senses a device the moment it is inserted and starts the cycle; lift it out and heating stops. A coil of copper under the glass creates a fast-switching magnetic field, the metal cap develops currents inside itself, and those currents are the heat, generated in the cap rather than around it.

Because the glass tube only receives warmth from the device itself, the chamber does not get too hot to handle, and independent testing has found the electromagnetic field tightly contained within the unit. A magnetic stand on the housing holds your device upright between draws and gives a hot cap a safe place to cool.

Watts and Seconds Instead of Guesswork

The display reads power and time, from 30 to 100 watts in 5-watt steps and 10 to 60 seconds on the timer, with a hard 60-second cutoff for safety. Your last settings are remembered between sessions, and the screen flips 180° so it reads correctly from either side of the table. Two indicators show each battery's level separately.

Lower power settings give the best flavour: around 30 to 40 watts roasts gently and gets the most out of a load. The upper half heats fast for a denser draw. The heater also regulates itself, delivering only what the metal in the chamber can actually absorb, so a small cap never receives more power than it can handle, even at a high setting.

Precisely Matched to the Tempest 2

The YLL 3.0 has become the standard heater for the Tempest 2, and it is one of the few with the coil size and the full 100 watts to drive it properly. Set the ceramic insert so the top of the Tempest head's vertical slits stays just visible, drop it in, and wait for the click that says it is ready.

With the stock ball fill, 65 watts with a 35 to 40 second timer is the optimal setting, and 80 watts around 30 to 35 seconds when you want it quicker. Heavier ball materials such as stainless steel take longer to saturate and hold their heat; silicon carbide and glass reach the click fastest, so adjust the timer slightly to match your fill.

DynaVap: One Adapter, Every Model

For DynaVap use, add the DynaVap silicone adapter (sold separately). It centres a standard DynaVap tip in the wide chamber so the device stands straight instead of leaning against the glass, which is what keeps the roast even from one side of the tip to the other. Only oversized caps sit correctly without it.

Settings are simple: around 65 to 75 watts suits the stainless caps of the M series for a balanced draw, with lower power for lighter tastes and higher for a denser finish. Titanium caps conduct heat faster and need less power. Lift the device at the click; pushing far past it moves from roasting towards burning.

An Adjustable Chamber You Can Rebuild

The glass tube lifts out for cleaning, and a second glass tube and second ceramic insert come in the box, so you have spares for the wear parts right from the start. The depth-adjustable insert is more than a spacer: seat your device higher and the heat concentrates near the tip for flavour, deeper and it drives further down for maximum extraction.

The chamber is lit while it works, and the light can be switched off if you prefer the battery savings. The housing itself is a stable, flat-bottomed block of 136 × 67 × 41 mm that stays firmly in place on a desk so you can operate it with one hand.

Batteries and Charging

The YLL 3.0 runs on two 21700 batteries, not included. We recommend a pair of Reliance RS50 cells: 5000 mAh each gives day-long session capacity, and owners of previous induction heaters know replaceable cells are what keeps a heater alive for years, since fresh batteries slot in the moment old ones fade.

Charging is onboard through USB-C and quick for the capacity. If you start a heating cycle while the unit is charging, charging pauses and then resumes automatically. The magnetic battery door pops open with a fingernail, and the polarity is moulded into the bay, so a battery swap takes seconds. An Xtar X2 external charger keeps a second pair ready if you never want to wait at all.

How to Use the YLL 3.0

  1. Batteries: Pop the magnetic door, insert two 21700 cells matching the moulded polarity marks, and charge fully over USB-C.
  2. Power on: Click the power button; the display shows your saved watts and seconds.
  3. Setting power: Double-click, then use + and − to set 30 to 100 watts. Set the timer the same way, 10 to 60 seconds.
  4. Insert depth: Adjust the ceramic insert so your device sits at the right height: Tempest 2 with the top of its slits visible, DynaVap seated in its adapter.
  5. Heating: Drop the device in. Heating starts on its own and stops at the click, the timer, or the moment you lift it out.
  6. Between draws: Park the device on the magnetic stand and let the cap cool before reloading.

YLL 3.0 vs Ispire Wand

The Ispire Wand is the other induction heater we carry: a wand-shaped unit with a built-in battery, comfortable to hold and designed around DynaVap-sized caps.

The YLL 3.0 gives you adjustable power and time where the Wand keeps things simple, and its larger coil and maximum output of 100 watts make it the right heater for the Tempest 2 and other devices with large caps. Replaceable batteries are the advantage that pays off over the years: heaters drain cells hard, and swapping a worn pair costs far less than a new heater.

For a DynaVap-only setup with no settings to think about, the Wand does the job. For the Tempest 2, mixed devices, or full control, the YLL 3.0 is the one to pick.

Recommended Accessories

Right now we offer a 25% discount on all accessories when you buy the YLL 3.0 here at MagicVaporizers. These are the pieces that complete it.

Reliance RS50 - 5000 mAh 21700 Battery: The heater takes two, and none come in the box. High discharge and 5000 mAh each make this a pair you can install and rely on for a long time.

YLL 3.0 - DynaVap Silicone Adapter: Required for standard DynaVap tips: it centres the device in the chamber so the tip roasts evenly instead of leaning on the glass.

Xtar X2 - Battery Charger: Charges a spare pair of 21700s outside the heater, with a display that shows exactly when they are ready.
