The YLL 3.0 replaces the butane torch for any battery-free vaporizer that has a metal cap: it heats a Tempest 2 or a DynaVap indoors, silently, with no flame and no technique to master. Reviewers single out the control: you set the exact power and time, and the vaporizer repeats those settings every session.

A torch heats a cap from outside, one spot at a time, and no two heat-ups are identical. Induction generates the heat inside the metal itself, evenly and all around. That is why, in our testing and in owner reviews, the herb roasts more evenly and a load gives more sessions.

There is no trigger to hold. The chamber senses the vaporizer the moment you insert it and starts the cycle. Lift it out and heating stops. A copper coil under the glass creates a fast-switching magnetic field. The metal cap develops currents inside itself, and those currents are the heat, made in the cap rather than around it.

The glass tube only picks up warmth from the vaporizer itself, so the chamber stays far cooler than the cap.

The display shows power and time, from 30 to 100 watts, and the timer runs from 10 to 60 seconds, with a hard cutoff at 60 seconds for safety. Your last settings are remembered between sessions, and the screen flips 180° so it reads correctly from either side of the table. Each battery has its own level indicator.

Lower power settings favour flavour: in our testing, around 30 to 40 watts roasts gently and gets the most out of a load. The upper half of the range heats fast for a denser draw. The heater also regulates itself and delivers only what the metal in the chamber can absorb. Even at a high setting, a small cap draws only what it can absorb.

The YLL 3.0 is a popular choice for heating the Tempest 2. It has both the coil size and the full 100 watts a Tempest 2 cap calls for. Set the ceramic insert so the top of the vertical slits on the Tempest head stays just visible. Drop the vaporizer in and wait for the click that says the cap is ready.

With the stock ball fill, 80 watts with a 35 to 40 second timer is the setting we recommend. Stay at 80 watts and 35 to 40 seconds with the stock zirconia balls. Heavier ball materials such as stainless steel take longer to saturate, but they hold their heat for longer; silicon carbide and glass reach the click fastest, so adjust the timer slightly to match your fill.

For DynaVap use, add the DynaVap silicone adapter (sold separately). It centres a standard DynaVap tip in the wide chamber so the vaporizer stands straight instead of leaning against the glass, which is what keeps the roast even from one side of the tip to the other. Without the adapter, standard tips lean to one side.

Settings are simple: around 65 to 75 watts suits the stainless caps of the M series for a balanced draw. Drop the power for a lighter taste, raise it for a denser finish. Titanium tips heat up faster than stainless steel tips. Lift the vaporizer at the click; push far past the click and roasting turns into burning.

The glass tube lifts out for cleaning, and a spare glass tube and a spare ceramic insert come in the box, so you have the wear parts covered from the start. The depth-adjustable insert is more than a spacer: seat your vaporizer higher and the heat concentrates near the tip for flavour. Seat it deeper and the heat drives further down for fuller extraction.

The chamber lights up while it works, and you can switch the light off to save battery. The housing is a flat-bottomed block measuring 136 × 67 × 41 mm. It stays put on a desk, so you can operate it with one hand.

The YLL 3.0 runs on two 21700 batteries, which are not included. We recommend a pair of Reliance RS50 cells: in our testing, 5000 mAh each is enough for a full day of sessions. Owners of earlier induction heaters know the value of replaceable cells: fresh batteries slot in the moment old ones fade.

Charging is onboard through USB-C. Only a cable ships in the box. If you need a wall charger, the USB-C Fast Charger (45W) pairs well and will also charge your USB-C vaporizers. If a heating cycle starts while the unit is plugged in, charging pauses, then resumes on its own. The magnetic door pops open with a fingernail, and the polarity is moulded into the bay. A swap takes seconds. An Xtar X2 external charger keeps a second pair ready so a charged pair is ready when you need it.

1. Batteries: Pop the magnetic door, insert two 21700 cells matching the moulded polarity marks, and charge fully over USB-C.
2. Power on: Switch it on and the display shows your saved watts and seconds.
3. Setting power: Double-click, then use + and − to choose 30 to 100 watts. Adjust the timer directly with + and −, from 10 to 60 seconds.
4. Insert depth: Adjust the ceramic insert so your vaporizer sits at the right height. Keep the top of the slits visible on a Tempest 2, and seat a DynaVap in its adapter.
5. Heating: Drop the vaporizer in. The cycle starts on its own and stops when the timer ends or the moment you lift the vaporizer out, so lift at the click.
6. Between draws: Set the vaporizer down and let the cap cool before reloading.
