The Herb Ripper 4-piece is machined in the USA from 100% medical-grade stainless steel, and that one choice of material determines everything else about the grinder. There is no anodised coating to wear through, no aluminium underneath it, and no coating of any kind: just bare, food-safe steel with teeth that stay sharp for the life of the tool. It is a grinder you only ever need to buy once.

Steel is far harder to machine than aluminium, and the finish shows how much work the machining took: cleanly deburred edges, a matte exterior over precision-machined internals, and real weight in the hand. Reviewers who own it call it a lifetime purchase, and one reviewer who works as a machinist praised the finishing quality in particular.

The four sections cover every stage of grinding. The lid is held by a magnet with 9.2 pounds of pulling force, so it never opens on its own in a bag. The grinding chamber cuts a consistency reviewers describe as ideal for vaporizers: not too fine, not too coarse. Below it, a removable micro-screen with a stainless ball agitator gradually sifts fine pollen down into an unusually deep kief chamber, and a small kief scraper comes in the box. Remove the screen section entirely and you have a shorter three-piece grinder.

The threads are multi-lead, starting from four points at once, so the sections seat in a fraction of a turn: you do not need to line them up first, and the threads cannot start at an angle. Knurled bands at the top and bottom keep the grip sure even with the chamber packed.

Two sizes are available on this page: the Classic at 5 cm (2″) and the XL at 6.5 cm (2.5″) for larger batches. Every grinder ships with the medium grind plate; a fine plate for the Classic or fine plate for the XL (sold separately) can be fitted easily when you want a finer grind optimized for vaporizers, and the size-matched maintenance kit or XL maintenance kit lets you replace every part that wears out, for many years to come.

If you have no use for pollen collection, the 3-piece Herb Ripper gives you the same steel and the same grind with one chamber less.
