Who is the Puffco Proxy Core Kit for?

The Core Kit is the smallest way to run Puffco's modular Proxy platform. The Puffco Proxy Core Kit swaps the Sherlock glass pipe for an anodised aluminium cup and a silicone mouthpiece, and it is consistently rated among the best portable concentrate vaporizers of its generation.

This is a concentrate-only vaporizer, so herb users should look elsewhere. The rounded shape sits in a pocket as a bulge rather than lying flat like a slim pen. That shape is what holds the chamber, the battery and the vortex airpath in something that sits fully in your palm on a hike, at a festival, or in a hotel room.

Small, Solid and Glass-Free

The assembled Core is a short, rounded cylinder, roughly the size of an egg, and it sits fully in the palm of your hand. The anodised aluminium cup gives it a solid, weighty feel in the hand, with a silicone foot on the bottom for grip on a table.

The base itself is fully wrapped in rubber and silicone. It stays cool to the touch even after a session, so you can drop it straight into a pocket when you are finished.

Nothing here is fragile. There is no glass in the kit, and in most cases a fall only leaves a scratch on the aluminium. Puffco build the vapour path with no plastics, glues or fibres, using ceramic, aluminium and silicone.

The Core Kit does not come with a carrying case. Because there is no glass in the kit, you hardly need to pack it carefully.

A Chamber That Heats from Every Side

The heart of the Core is Puffco's patented 3D Chamber. Ceramic coils sit inside the chamber walls, so heat comes from the sides as well as the base. Imagine an oven that heats the material from all sides, rather than a cooking plate that heats it only from below.

That wall heating is what gives even extraction with almost no unvaporised concentrate left in the chamber. Heat-up takes roughly 10 to 30 seconds, quickest when the chamber is still warm from an earlier session.

The ceramic also holds its temperature steadily. Real-time control trims the power continuously to hold the setting, so the flavour stays clean through to the end of the session.

The Terp Pearl Vortex

The silicone mouthpiece has two angled intake holes, and they are shaped to do one specific job. As you draw, the air they let in spins a 4 mm ceramic pearl clockwise inside the chamber. Three pearls come in the box, and you use one at a time.

You can hear and feel that spin. The gentle rumble during a draw is the sign that the vortex is working, which makes technique easy to judge without any screen or readout.

The spinning pearl spreads concentrate across the heated walls, so the material meets hot ceramic on every side. The airpath is also direct in Core form, with vapour coming straight off the chamber into the mouthpiece.

The two side holes also work as airflow control holes. You can cover and uncover them with a finger during a draw to control airflow.

Four Presets You Can Fine-Tune Yourself

The Core has four colour-coded presets: Blue at 254°C, Green at 266°C, Red at 274°C and White at 293°C. A single click of the button cycles through them, and the LED ring shows which one you are on.

Green at 266°C is a sensible starting point for most sessions. Lower settings release compounds more slowly and lean towards lighter flavour notes. Higher settings vaporise the concentrate faster.

The Core runs warmer than the same base drawn through glass, because the airpath is short and direct. It is worth choosing the next preset down in temperature from the one you would normally use with a glass piece.

A double click while at temperature turns on Boost Mode, which raises the temperature and extends the session.

Loading the Chamber

The silicone mouthpiece pops off the top of the Core, which gives you clear access to the ceramic chamber. The included dab tool places concentrate directly into the centre of the chamber.

Small loads work best here. The chamber is compact and efficient with small amounts, and if you overload it, unvaporised concentrate can be drawn into the airpath.

The 3D Chamber is a wear part, like any heating element that meets material directly. With regular use it is replaced periodically, and a new 3D Chamber (sold separately) restores even heating and a clean taste. Chambers for the original Proxy and the current Bluetooth Proxy look alike but use different connections, so match the chamber to the base you own.

Modular: Use It With Any Glass

The base detaches from the Core cup and drops into compatible glass pieces. Puffco published the platform's dimensions and encouraged independent glass blowers to build for it, which is why bubblers, pipes and rig adapters exist in 10 mm and 14 mm joint sizes.

The kit includes the joystick cap for exactly this reason. You fit it when you run the base in glass, and you rotate it to direct airflow across the chamber.

One base covers both ways of using it. Drawn directly through the aluminium cup and silicone mouthpiece, the Core is pocketable and delivers stronger vapour than the same base used with a glass piece. Dropped into a bubbler or rig, you get water filtration and a cooler, marginally fresher taste.

If you add glass later, the Wizard dry pipe and the Bub water bubbler are both made for this base and sold separately.

Pair the App Once and Adjust Every Setting

The Puffco Connect app pairs over Bluetooth and gives you access to all of the detailed settings. You can set each preset's temperature by individual degree and each session's length by the second, then choose between Smooth, Bold and Intense vapour intensity modes.

The app also shows live chamber temperature, battery level and usage stats, sends cleaning reminders, and lets you change the LED colours and patterns. Firmware updates run through it, and a firmware update is usually needed the first time you pair.

The Core works fully without a phone. Your custom presets save to the vaporizer itself, so most people set it up once and rarely open the app again.

How to Use the Core Kit

One button handles everything, with the LED ring and a short vibration telling you where you are.

  1. Loading: Pop off the silicone mouthpiece and place a small amount of concentrate into the centre of the ceramic chamber with the dab tool.
  2. Pearl: Drop in one 4 mm ceramic pearl. Use one at a time, never all three.
  3. Assembling: Push the mouthpiece back on and check the aluminium cup is seated on the base, so air is drawn through the mouthpiece.
  4. Choosing a preset: Hold the button to power on, then single-click to cycle through Blue, Green, Red and White.
  5. Heating: Double-click to start. The LED pulses while the chamber warms, which takes about 10 to 30 seconds.
  6. Inhaling: The LED goes solid and the Core vibrates once when it is ready. Draw from the mouthpiece and listen for the pearl's rumble, partly covering and uncovering the side holes with a finger to increase airflow.
  7. Boosting: Double-click mid-session to raise the temperature and extend the session.
  8. Finishing: A second vibration marks the end of the session. The Core stays warm briefly, then powers down on its own.

Battery and Charging Through the Day

The Core gives around 15 sessions per charge, so most people charge it once a day or less, much like a phone. Charging over USB-C takes about an hour from empty. A triple click of the button shows the charge level through the colour of the LED ring.

You can keep using the Core while it is plugged in, since pass-through charging is supported. The battery is sealed inside the base and is not user-replaceable.

The kit ships with a USB-C cable and no wall plug. You can add a fast charger to cover that, and a magnetic adapter is an optional way to protect the port from daily plugging and unplugging.

Cleaning Is Quick and Simple

The simplest routine is a cotton swab dipped in 90% isopropyl alcohol, run around the chamber and the airflow holes right after a session while the residue is still soft. Cotton swabs and a dab tool are included in the box.

For a deeper clean, the Core comes apart into three pieces: mouthpiece, aluminium cup and base. Pearls can soak in a small dish of isopropyl. The silicone mouthpiece and joystick cap are porous and hold residue, so give them a regular rinse under warm water.

Never submerge the base or let the electronics touch liquid.

Core Kit vs Proxy

The Puffco Proxy is the glass configuration of this same modular platform, sold with Puffco's redesigned Sherlock-style borosilicate pipe. The longer glass path manages vapour temperature before it reaches you, giving a marginally cooler and fresher taste, and the rotating joystick cap makes it an interactive object to hold.

More power in a pocket-sized form is what the Core Kit adds. The same base and the same 3D Chamber sit inside both, but drawn directly through the aluminium cup, the Core delivers stronger vapour than the same base drawn through glass. The terp pearl vortex is exclusive to this configuration, and there is no glass to protect when you travel.

If your sessions mostly happen at home and you want the cooler glass draw, the Proxy pipe makes sense. If you want the platform in your pocket, or you already own glass to pair it with, the Core Kit is built for that.

Core Kit vs Pivot

The Puffco Pivot is the brand's simpler all-in-one concentrate pen, with a small set of fixed presets and no app at all. The flat pen shape may sit more comfortably in a pocket than the Core's rounded cylinder, and there is nothing to assemble or configure.

The Core Kit stands apart because you can set the temperature one degree at a time. You get per-degree temperature, per-second session length and three intensity modes through the app, along with a larger chamber and a base that detaches into any compatible glass.

The Pivot is the simpler and cheaper route into Puffco's ceramic chambers. The Core Kit suits anyone who wants to fine-tune their settings and keep the option of using a glass piece later.

Recommended Accessories

Right now we offer a 25% discount on all accessories when you buy any vaporizer here at MagicVaporizers. These are the additions worth considering with the Core Kit.

USB-C Fast Charger (45 W): The kit includes a cable but no wall plug, so this covers the gap at home and while travelling.

Proxy Wizard: A tall glass dry pipe with a long, cooling air path, for the days the Core stays home.

Proxy Bub: Water filtration in one fitted piece, which pairs especially well with the hotter presets.

New Hot Knife: Warms its ceramic tip at a button press, so sticky concentrate slides straight into the chamber instead of clinging to a cold tool.

Magnetic USB-C Adapter: The cable snaps on and pulls away cleanly, which saves the charging port from wear on a vaporizer you charge daily.

3D Chamber: The chamber is the part that wears with use, and a new one brings back even heating and a clean taste from the first draw.

Warranty Information

All Puffco Proxy Core Kit vaporizers we sell are authentic Puffco products. We offer a 2-year warranty on the electronic base and a 1-year warranty on the battery; the 3D Chamber is a wear part and is not covered as a defect.
