The airpath disc is a replacement for the small gold-plated insert that sits under the top cap of the Legacy Pro 2's chamber. It is a tiny part, easy to misplace during cleaning, and airflow suffers when the original is worn or clogged, so a spare keeps the vape performing as it should.

The disc also runs the chamber-resizing trick: twisting the top cap counter-clockwise drops it down into the chamber, cutting the usable volume by roughly 25% for smaller solo loads. During cleaning it lifts out and rinses along with the screens, and the gold plating takes heat cycle after heat cycle without losing its shape.
